OSHA most high-pitched occupational injury and illness

Last month Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) identified both Lakeside and Beechtree as having one of the most high-pitched occupational injury and illness ranks relative to all workplaces in the U.S., over double the national average for work-related injuries and illnesses.

The track record of the local companies distinguished by OSHA is disturbing although work injuries are preventable. And they’re not the exclusively ones. Substantial federal action is required to protect all of us. One instance of federal action that would guide the way in expressing that the health and safety of workers is rightfully a priority is transit of the Protecting America’s Workers Act (HR 2067). This congress bill would tone up the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSH Act) by making more rigid punishments for grievous violations and blowing up protections for whistleblowers. Powering into the enforcement of workplace safety and health regulations is a thought whose time hasn’t only come, but is long overdue.
