Confined Space Entry Permit Training

A lot of workplaces contain spaces that are conceived “restricted” because their configurations hinder the activities of employees who must enter, work and finish. A confined space is limited or restricted means for entry or exit, and is not intended for continuous employee occupancy. Enclosed spaces include, but are not limited to underground vaults, tanks, silos, manholes, pits, silos, process vessels and pipelines.

Occupational Safety and Health Administration uses the term “permit required confined space (permit space) to describe a confined space that has one or more of the following characteristics: contains or may contain a hazardous atmosphere, contains a material that has the potential to engulf an , has walls that converge inward or floors that slope downward and taper into a smaller area that can trap or asphyxiate an entrant, or contains any recognized safety or health hazards such as unguarded machinery protection, child exposed live or heat stress.

Confined spaces present a number of dangers and most basic atmospheric hazards. Atmospheric hazards include oxygen deficiency, oxygen-enriched environment, levels of explosive vapors, and toxic air pollutants.
